If so, GM wants it and in return, they will teach you how to assemble a Corvette engine.

Don't you have to also buy the Z06 along with that $5k?

According to the linked article, not only do you have to buy one, you have to special order one.
The comments on that article are pretty funny too. One person was trying to explain that cost is reasonable, consider, among other things, that GM has to pay somebody to disassemble the engine and put it back together correctly after you leave the building. I got a chuckle out of it.

Isn't special order the only way to get one? I don't think they'd keep many on the lot.

No idea. I just know the article specifically stated special order. I think a lot of people would go with special order anyway in the first year; considering the waiting list for a dealer model is probably just as long as the special order.

You know, I'll tell you the same thing I told the Doctor who wanted me to cut my kid's umbilical cord.. .isn't there a professional I can pay to do this kind of stuff...?

This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. If I'm ever in the market for a car like this, this would honestly be a pretty big factor in making my decision. I only wish it would be possible to do this with something I might be able to buy sometime soon.

Z06 blows engine shortly after delivery. Anyone with $5k can build theirs.
Coincidence? I think not.
